Dr. Mark Nelson, Veterinarian and Owner
Dr. Mark Nelson graduated from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1972. He established the veterinary practice in Centuria in 1974, built the Interstate Veterinary Hospital in 1975. Dr. Nelson has always enjoyed mixed animal practice and spent a lot of time with production- animal medicine until the 1990’s when dairy farming began to decline in northwestern Wisconsin. His main focus currently is serving the needs of the community’s pets with interests in diagnostics and surgery. His hobbies have always been centered around outdoor activities and include hunting, fishing, farming, scuba diving, and his dogs.
Dr. Jon Springer, DVM
Dr. Jon Springer received his DVM from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. He moved with his family to Saint Croix Falls and joined the staff at Interstate Veterinary Hospital in 1990. Dr. Springer enjoys working with all species of animals. He has had many dogs, cats, cows, pigs, chickens and geese over the years. His spare time is usually spent on outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. He is also known for his avid loyalty to the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. He shares his home with his wife, who has decided it is time for them to travel so they are currently petless.
Dr. Ellie Engelen, DVM
Dr. Ellie Engelen received her DVM degree from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017 and and joined the staff at Interstate Veterinary Hospital after graduating. She works with all species of animals, both large and small. At home, Dr. Engelen has a German Shepherd named Stella and two cats, Nacho and Sherbert. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, kayaking, spending time at her family's cabin, and cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones.
